State and government officials have issued messages condemning the attack against President Ersin Tatar who is in London.

Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre in his message conveyed his best wishes to President Ersin Tatar and said such provocative actions of the Greek Cypriots can never intimidate the Turkish Cypriot people and will never force the Turkish Cypriot people to give up on their rightful cause and struggle.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel in his condemnation said “the mentality that tries to prevent the Turkish Cypriot people from making their voices heard on every platform that ignores the Turkish Cypriots and does not see them as equal, has revealed itself once again in London”.

Üstel said, “We condemn the attack attempts of the Greek Cypriot protesters who blocked the Turkish Cypriot delegations path while they tried to enter the grounds where President Ersin Tatar was to give a conference on the Cyprus issue at London Kings College. They have exceeded freedom of expression, opened banners full of hatred and shouted insults and slogans. I would like to extend my best wishes to all our delegation and President Ersin Tatar.”

Explaining that these heinous attacks aimed at silencing the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people will never reach their goal, Prime Minister Üstel said “these attacks will not prevent us from making our voices and our just cause heard.”
