PM Üstel visits Ankara with coalition partners

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, together with his coalition government partners, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu and Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı are in the Turkish capital Ankara.

They met with Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and during the meeting; evaluations were made on current projects that will contribute to the development of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel who described his meeting with Yılmaz as productive, said that relations with Türkiye was based on mutual love, respect, trust, and cooperation at the highest level.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, together with his government partners met with Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz in Ankara.

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, in a post on social media, stated that they held a meeting to increase cooperation between Türkiye and the TRNC.

Yılmaz stated that they made evaluations regarding the ongoing current projects in many different sectors that will contribute to the development of the TRNC, and that they held consultations on the preparations for the Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement for 2024.

Stating that the meeting was very productive, Yılmaz said, “We discussed the political and economic developments between the two countries in all dimensions.”

Also evaluating his contacts in Ankara, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel praised the Turkish government and its relationship with the current TRNC government.

“Since the day we formed our government, we have been conducting our relations with motherland Türkiye based on mutual love, respect, trust, and cooperation at the highest level. During our visit, once again, we reaffirmed the unshakeable bond between the TRNC and Türkiye. The open support provided by Türkiye to both our people and our government has made us happy,” he said.

Üstel said that they had found the opportunity to discuss a wide range of political and economic issues as well as pending projects for the TRNC.

“During our meeting, we agreed on taking new steps in addition to the efforts made regarding the citrus problem experienced in our country this year. Once the technical teams arrive on our island and complete their work in a short period, we will eliminate the grievances of our citrus producers,” he said.

Üstel also announced that an agreement had been reached to build a 40,000-ton cold storage facility in the Güzelyurt Region to prevent the recurrence of the difficulties experienced this year.
