Prime Minister Ünal Üstel on Wednesday toured the Arasta quarter and area around the Lokmacı crossing point located in the walled city of Lefkoşa.
During his visit, Üstel listened to shopkeepers in the area and evaluated the attempts of the Greek Cypriot Administration to prevent tourists from crossing to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Speaking after his tour of the area, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel touched upon on the latest deal struck between the Greek Cypriot administration and tour operators to cut the number of overseas tourists visiting the north while on holiday in Cyprus.
Pointing out that in the past, while efforts were made to revitalize the trade in Arasta with the Green Line Regulation, the Greek Cypriot leadership did their best to prevent people who wanted to cross to the TRNC individually, Üstel said that the world and the EU should once again see this closely and understand who is right and who is wrong.
