PM Üstel visits Serdarlı and Geçitkale

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel was in Serdarlı and Geçitkale on Sunday as part of his routine visits to the countryside.

Meeting with villagers and party supporters, Üstel said that the government will continue to work for the welfare and prosperity of the Turkish Cypriot people and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Giving out important messages during his meetings, the leader of the National Unity Party (UBP) and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said that the government was steadily introducing and implementing reforms.

“The country’s infrastructure is improving in every region of the TRNC. Since 2008, we have steadfastly stood by the reforms we dared to undertake because we believe in this state, love our people, and say that this flag will never fall. We declare that the TRNC will live forever,” he said.

Üstel also announced that the government was currently hiring people with disabilities to the public sector and that this process will continue next year as well.

He also announced government plans for social housing which will be implemented for the first time after 26 years.

Üstel pointed out that infrastructure work on rural land plots had failed to be completed in the past due to constantly changing governments but that this had changed with the current government.

He said that infrastructure work for social housing had begun in the villages of Sınırüstü – Mormenekşe with the support of Motherland Türkiye.

Üstel also reminded that a significant cooperation agreement was signed between the UBP – AK Party and the New Azerbaijan Party during the process of embracing the world, emphasizing that this collaboration would have a rapid impact on tourism, agriculture, culture, and various other fields.

Stating that they will proceed with the fibre optic project for every household and a digital island perspective in 2024, Üstel mentioned that they will continue to provide social security support to the private sector.

Üstel assured public employees, saying, “Let our public employees be at ease. There will be an increase proportionate to the rise cost of living. We stand by all segments of society. We work for each person to live in peace and prosperity.”

Üstel emphasized that in the 2024 budget, they would continue to provide significant support to the tourism, industry, agriculture, and livestock sectors.

The prime minister also indicated that not enough resources had been allocated to the Immovable Property Commission until now, but with the recent measures taken by the government, resource allocation to the commission has increased.

He mentioned that the Greek Cypriots are disturbed by the transfer of resources to the commission, but everything is under control, necessary measures will be taken, and there will be new regulations on land sales.

Üstel highlighted that the TRNC is moving forward confidently with the financial and diplomatic support of motherland Türkiye, Üstel said.
