Prime Minister Ünal Üstel issued a message to mark the 61st anniversary of Bayrak Radio Television Corporation.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said that their 2025 target is to eliminate the legal and structural problems of Bayrak Radio Television Corporation, which has been struggling with problems for years.

He also promised to implement the new BRTK law.

In his message, Üstel stated that the BRTK, which is the voice of the Turkish Cypriot People, is 61 years old and noted that Bayrak Radio, which was established 61 years ago to strengthen the Turkish Cypriot struggle for existence and independence, fulfilled its responsibility in those difficult times and was the organizer of the continuation of the struggle of the people in unity and integrity with its broadcasts.

He emphasized that BRTK, which is both the reliable news source of the Turkish Cypriot People and has made important contributions to strengthening the national consciousness and unity, continues to be the strong voice of the Turkish Cypriot people by embracing all segments of the society in the awareness of its responsibility of public broadcasting.

Üstel stated that when they formed the government, they put forward the vision of eliminating the problems that have been going on for years, realizing the reforms that have not been carried out and completing the unfinished projects.

“In line with this vision, we have realized many reforms that have not been made in the country for years and we have completed many unfinished projects” said Üstel.

“Among our goals for 2025 is to eliminate the legal and structural problems of Bayrak Radio Television Corporation, which has been a problem for years. As the Prime Ministry and the BRTK Board of Directors, we have formed a legal committee to carry out legal studies. After our committee, which includes all stakeholders, completes its work, we will bring the updated new BRTK law to parliament and put it into practice together” said Üstel.

He added that in addition to the legal work, they have also initiated work to eliminate the physical and technical infrastructure deficiencies of BRTK.

“I believe the year 2025 will be a year in which a significant part of BRTK’s long-lasting problems will come to an end” said Üstel.
