As part of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) 41st-anniversary celebrations, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel met with the Azerbaijan-TRNC Parliamentary Friendship Group, emphasizing the deepening alliance between the TRNC, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye.
Üstel highlighted the unified vision, stating, “We will continue to walk together with our brother Azerbaijan and motherland Türkiye under the principle of one nation, three states.”
During the meeting, Prime Minister Üstel expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s repeated calls at the United Nations for the international recognition of the TRNC.
Üstel acknowledged the strong support of Erdoğan and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, noting that their backing was instrumental in securing the TRNC’s observer status in the Organization of Turkic States.
“It would make us immensely happy to complete the process of full membership in the Organization of Turkic States,” Üstel added.
Üstel went on to highlight the high-level cooperation and growing relationship between the TRNC and Azerbaijan, especially following the TRNC’s observer membership.
Reflecting on a recent visit to Azerbaijan, he expressed gratitude for the warm protocol extended to TRNC officials and noted that many TRNC institutions have since paid visits to Azerbaijan.
“Even if the world shuts its doors to us, Azerbaijan, as a brotherly country, has opened its doors wide,” Üstel remarked, thanking President Aliyev once again for his unwavering support.
Azerbaijani Member of Parliament and Head of the Azerbaijan-TRNC Friendship Group, Cavanşir Feyziyev, extended his congratulations on the 41st anniversary of the TRNC.
“We are here to celebrate with you on your invitation. Congratulations on your Republic’s 41st year,” Feyziyev stated.
