The Turkish Cypriot People will never forget our children. This is a state matter and Türkiye is supporting this issue, said President Ersin Tatar.

The president’s words came during a visit paid to him on Wednesday by the Board of Directors of the Champion Angels Society set up with the aim of keeping the memories of the Gazimağusa Türk Maarif College youth volleyball team who died in the deadly İsias Hotel building collapse during the earthquake disaster in Türkiye, alive.

During the visit Tatar expressed his office’s full support to the work to be carried by the society.

President Ersin Tatar and First Lady Sibel Tatar on Wednesday received the Board of Directors of the Champion Angels Society headed by Ruşen Yücesoylu Karakaya.

During the visit, Karakaya thanked President Ersin Tatar for the support he has shown to their cause and said that they were working towards realizing new projects.

President Tatar for his part said that those who lost their lives in the earthquake disaster will never be forgotten.

He added nothing will be ever the same.

“The work being carried out on this issue, which has become a communal issue, is a contribution to youth and sports. The memory of our children will be kept alive with the projects realised. We are ready to contribute in every possible way. Our hearts will always be with you. The Turkish Cypriot People will never forget the names of our children,” President Tatar said.
