A swearing in ceremony for the 46th term reserve officers was realized today with a ceremony at the Gülseren Barracks in Gazimağusa.
Speaking during the ceremony President Tatar emphasized the importance of maintaining Türkiye’s guarantees and the presence of the Turkish Armed Forces on the island.
Addressing the swearing-in ceremony for the 46th term reserve officers at the Gülseren Barracks this morning, the Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces, Major General Zorlu Topaloğlu stated that the young recruits will serve to maintain the existence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the peace and independence of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Also addressing the troops, President Ersin Tatar said that the young men who will be doing their military service will be performing their duties in the best possible way as a result of the education and training they received.
Noting that there had been much suffering in Cyprus, Tatar said that the Turkish Resistance Organization (TMT) had defended the homeland in the past, and that a new era had begun on the island with the 1974 Peace Operation.
He emphasized the importance of Türkiye’s guarantees and the continued presence of the Turkish Armed Forces on the island for the Turkish Cypriot people and said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus continued on its way determined to protect its rights and interests.
Pointing to the importance of the TRNC being admitted to the Organization of Turkic States as an observer member with its own constitutional name, President Tatar said, “The time has come for the TRNC to be recognized.”
