President Ersin Tatar congratulated both Major General Sezai Öztürk, Commander of the Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces, and Major General Zorlu Topaloğlu, Commander of the Turkish Security Forces in Cyprus, on their promotion to Lieutenant General, effective as of August 30, 2023, in line with the decisions taken at the Supreme Military Council meeting held under the chairmanship of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

“In addition to fulfilling the duty of homeland defence by ensuring the security of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, our commanders, who have been highly appreciated by the people with their outstanding efforts in times of disaster, have also touched our social and cultural lives by being intertwined with the Turkish Cypriot people throughout their term of office” said Tatar.

He said that the contributions of Major General Sezai Öztürk, and Major General Zorlu Topaloğlu to the TRNC will never be forgotten.

He wished both of the esteemed commanders’ great success during their new duties within the Land Forces Command.
