President Ersin Tatar on Tuesday received members of the British Turkish Cypriot Association.
“We will continue to pursue a two-state policy on the Cyprus Issue on the basis of sovereign equality and equal international status. We will continue to voice our views to the whole world” Tatar said, during the meeting.
President Ersin Tatar on Tuesday received members of the board of directors of the British Turkish Cypriot Association headed by Kenan Yaman and the association’s formal chairman Ersu Ekrem.
Touching up on his recent visit to London, Tatar highlighted the importance of the United Kingdom as a guarantor power and said it was importance to explain to the world the position of the Turkish Cypriots on the Cyprus issue and the injustices they faced.
Noting that the Greek Cypriot Administration had rejected all settlement proposals to date, he underlined the fact that the Turkish Cypriots were as sovereign and as vested as the Greek Cypriots were and were governing themselves for the past 60 years.
“The existence of two separate states is a fact that cannot be denied, ” said Tatar adding that the sovereign equality of the Turkish Cypriots must be accepted in order for the two states to be able to cooperate.
Stating that he has been sharing the Turkish Cypriot side’s new policy with British parliamentarians and media outlets, he underlined the importance to actively work towards ending unjust practices against Turkish Cypriots.
The President thanked the British Turkish Cypriot Association and other Turkish Cypriot Associations for being the voice of the TRNC in the United Kingdom.
