President Ersin Tatar has said that Afyonkarahisar has an important place in the history of the Republic of Türkiye.

He stated that they are working to develop and strengthen relations between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Afyon.

Speaking at a press conference in Afyonkarahisar where he evaluated his visit to the region, President Tatar thanked the governor, mayor and the people for their hospitality during his two-day and very busy visit.

Emphasizing that the Turkish Cypriot people have always been wholeheartedly loyal to Türkiye, Tatar emphasized that the two states and the two peoples are inseparable and no one can break this bond.

Stating that Afyonkarahisar has an important place in Türkiye’s history, Tatar said that he commemorated the great leader Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms at Kocatepe, in the land where the Great Offensive began, and that this was the place he was most impressed by in Afyonkarahisar.

Stating that they will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye with great enthusiasm, Tatar noted that they are working in Afyon to strengthen relations with the TRNC.

He stated that during his visit to Afyonkarahisar, they tried to meet with all segments and evaluated the steps that could be taken to develop economic ties.

Tatar stated that they continue to work to strengthen the TRNC state, to explain the just cause of the Turkish Cypriot people and the new politics.

Noting that he was pleased to visit the Girne College, a brand from the TRNC, in Afyonkarahisar, Tatar said that the school educates children who will shape the future of the country.

Tatar also came together with Cyprus veterans and told them about the latest developments in Cyprus.

He thanked them for their sacrifices, wishing them a long life, and commemorated the martyrs.
