Having completed his contacts in Germany, President Ersin Tatar proceeded to Antalya on Thursday to attend a series of events.

President Tatar also held important meetings on his last day in Berlin.

Meeting with the President of the Berlin Rotary Club, Alexander Mock, Tatar told BRT that he once again had the opportunity to convey the realities on the Cyprus issue.

President Ersin Tatar completed his engagements in Berlin and proceeded to Antalya.

Tatar, who will return to the TRNC today, spent some time meeting with Alexander Mock, the President of the Berlin Rotary Club, during his day in Germany.

During the meeting, which focused on the Cyprus issue, the TRNC’s Representative to Berlin Beniz Kaymak, TRNC Bavarian Honorary Cultural Attaché Turgay Hilmi, and Club member Diplomat Lawyer Wolfgang Friedirich Ischinge, former Ambassador of Germany to the United States and President of the Munich Security Conference, were also present.

President Tatar, who evaluated the details of the meeting and his engagements in Germany to BRT, explained that he had visited the Berlin Rotary Club upon the invitation of its esteemed members and had the opportunity to convey the realities of the Cyprus issue during the meeting, which was held behind closed doors.

Pointing out that Germany was an important member of the European Union, the president said that as part of his contacts in Germany, he had the opportunity to convey the Cyprus issue and to voice the just cause of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Tatar also pointed out that while none of the promises made to the Turkish Cypriot people during the Annan Plan period were fulfilled, he said that the Greek Cypriots who had overwhelmingly rejected the plan had been unilaterally admitted to the European Union.

Tatar explained that the TRNC was also important for the security of Türkiye in the Eastern Mediterranean and that a permanent agreement in Cyprus passed through Türkiye’s effective and de facto guarantee.

President Tatar concluded his evaluation by stating that his contacts in Germany had been quite productive.
