President Ersin Tatar paid a visit to Bayrak Radio Television Corporation on Friday to congratulate the corporation on its 58th anniversary of establishment, to learn about its current activities and to express his gratitude to those working in the news department.
Tatar who was greeted by the BRTK Director Meryem Özkurt at the entrance toured the corporation premises, chatting with employees and briefed on the work carried out by the various departments.
“BRTK is the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people. BRT with its reporters, editors and news crews work tirelessly as a team to voice the just cause of the Turkish Cypriot people to the world. I have had numerous visits abroad and BRT has reported accurately and swiftly about my contacts. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and pride for the work you are doing,” he said.
Tatar also said that the newsroom had operated under difficult conditions during the pandemic, informing people on the latest developments during the two lockdowns.
Regarding BRT’s broadcasts, President Ersin Tatar said that the corporation carried out important duties in terms of public broadcasting.
He added that private broadcasting in the TRNC also owed much to those who were trained or worked in BRTK.
Also touching upon the Cyprus Issue, President Ersin Tatar said that there are two separate peoples on the island, both of which were sovereign.
