President Tatar completes contacts in Ankara, moves onto Antalya

President Ersin Tatar on Friday participated in the Opening Ceremony of the “Unity Year with the Spirit of Cedit Movement in Language and Thought” and the meeting of the Union of Turkish World Engineers and Architects (TDMMB) in Ankara.

The meeting took place at the Ankara Social Sciences University (ASBU).

The opening ceremony began with the observance of a moment’s silence and the reciting of the National Anthem, followed by the opening speech of the Rector of Ankara Social Sciences University (ASBU) Prof. Dr. Musa Kazım Arıcan.

In his speech, Arıcan said, “As your honorary ambassador, we are making the voice of the Turkish Cypriots heard.”

President Ersin Tatar began his speech by paying tribute to the late Turkish leaders Adnan Menderes and Fatin Rüştü Zorlu, highlighting their importance for Cyprus and the national cause.

Tatar noted that Türkiye was the leader of the Turkic world and emphasized the significant unity under the leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

He expressed belief that the Turkic world will strengthen through economic, political, and social collaborations.

Touching upon the isolations imposed on the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and efforts to hinder its relations with the Turkic world, President Tatar emphasized the great potential of the Turkish world in unity and solidarity.

Stating the importance of such meetings for strengthening the bonds among Turkic states, Tatar drew attention to the importance of further strengthening relations within the Turkic community of states.

“The Turkish Cypriot people are an integral part of the Turkic world,” Tatar said, highlighting the importance of the TRNC becoming an observer member of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) with its constitutional name and expressed gratitude to all states supporting this decision.

Emphasizing that, “Strength comes from unity,” Tatar reiterated the need for Turkic states to act together.

Tatar is set to resume his contacts in Türkiye with a visit to Antalya where he will be delivering a speech at a meeting organized by Türkiye’s Public Workers Union (Kamu-Sen).

The president will also be awared an Honorary Doctorate by Belek University.

Earlier on Thursday, the president attended the “Cyprus Facts” Exhibition in Ankara on Thursday as part of his contacts in the Turkish capital.

He also attended the opening reception of the photo exhibition titled “Traces Unforgotten,” prepared in collaboration between the Türkiye Municipalities Union and the Union of Turkish Cypriot Municipalities.

During his contacts, Tatar highlighted the importance of a two-state solution for Cyprus as well as the need to inform the world on the realities on the island.

President Tatar is expected to return to the island tomorrow afternoon.
