President Ersin Tatar has completed his third year in office and in an exclusive interview with Bayrak Radio Television (BRT) he gave clear messages on many important developments ranging from his views on a two-state solution to his recent visit to Azerbaijan.

Giving his views on the Cyprus issue, President Tatar emphasized that the two-state solution policy on Cyprus has reached a realistic stage and has started to take root.

Noting that all the calls made at international platforms have strengthened the grounds of the new policy being pursued on the Cyprus issue, Tatar underlined that the state in the north must be absolutely sovereign.

Regarding his visit to Azerbaijan and his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, President Tatar said that the visit was very important for him and drew attention to Aliyev’s support for the Turkish Cypriot People.

In response to a question about TURKSOY, of which the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is also an observer member, Tatar said, “Our participation in the organization shows our prosperity.”

Regarding the developments between Israel and Palestine, President Tatar stated that the world states should do whatever it takes to stop the bloodshed in Palestine as soon as possible.

“If the Turkish soldiers were not in Cyprus, there would have been a lot of bloodshed here too,” said Tatar and added that peace and tranquillity should be appreciated.
