President Ersin Tatar is holding a variety of contacts in the German capital Berlin.

He first attended the 2nd Global Destination Exchange Forum meeting and delivered a speech.

Speaking at the meeting, President Tatar stated that despite all the difficulties, different cultures come together and interact on tourism.

He said that in a period when communication and transportation have become so easy the isolations enforced against the Turkish Cypriots have become outdated and added that these embargoes should be lifted as soon as possible.

Tatar emphasized the importance of diplomacy and dialogue and said that Europe and especially Germany should listen to the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Tatar said that for a better future, everyone should be treated fairly and impartially and expressed the hope that this would be the case for the island of Cyprus.

Explaining that many activities are being carried out to bring the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to a better place in tourism, the President pointed out that the TRNC is an important tourism destination.

“The TRNC is an important tourism destination with its historical buildings, sand, sun and untouched nature,” said Tatar.

While in Germany President Ersin Tatar also visited the TRNC representative office in Berlin.

He received information from Representative Beniz Uluer Kaymak about the work of the representation office and then gave an interview on the Cyprus issue to veteran German journalist Michael Martenes from the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper.

Earlier, Tatar who spoke to reporters on his flight to Berlin said that his contacts in Germany will focus on explaining the Turkish Cypriot side’s two-state policy on the Cyprus Problem.

He added that they will continue to voice their just cause despite efforts by the Greek Cypriot side to silence them.

Stating that more than 3 and a half million Turks live in Germany, Tatar reminded that he had received invitations from Germany many times in the past.

“The right time was now, I am extremely pleased to come together with them,” said Tatar.
