President Ersin Tatar is in Tashkent, Uzbekistan to attend the 16th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

Tatar embarked on his contacts in Uzbekistan by meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Secretary General of the Organization Khusrav Noziri and Pakistani Prime Minister Anvarul Hak Kakar.

President Ersin Tatar, who is in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, to attend the 16th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, where the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is an observer member, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

During the tete a tete, current developments were discussed.

President Tatar also met with the Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwarul Haq Kakar, during which the relations between the two countries were discussed.

President Tatar informed the Prime Minister of Pakistan about the history of the Cyprus problem and the negotiation processes, and explained the unjust embargoes imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people.

Pointing out that Pakistan, a brotherly nation, has around 10 thousand citizens living in the TRNC, Tatar asked for closer relations and cooperation with Pakistan.

Pakistani Prime Minister Kakar for his part stated that they have cultural and historical ties with the Turkish Cypriot people and pointed to the importance of the TRNC’s participation in international organizations and expressed his support.

Tatar also came together with the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Khusrav Noziri.

Speaking during the meeting President Tatar stated that the countries that make up the ECO have a joint population of over 500 million and have a strong economic value and emphasized the importance they attach to relations with the ECO.

Informing the Secretary General about the Cyprus problem and the current situation in Cyprus, Tatar stated that Türkiye stands by the TRNC in every field and wants to improve its relations with the ECO.

ECO Secretary General Noziride for his part stated that they are very familiar with the problems and demands of the Turkish Cypriot people and support the Turkish Cypriot people who want to improve their relations with the international community.
