February 4th was World Cancer Day and President Ersin Tatar issued a message to mark the occasion.

In his message President Ersin Tatar noted that cancer is one of the most important health problems and that it is increasing worldwide, affecting more and more people every day.

He noted that apart from hereditary cancer, environmental factors play an important role in the formation of cancer.

“Developing science shows us that cancer is treatable with early intervention. We can protect our health and reduce the risk of developing cancer by avoiding harmful habits such as alcohol and inactivity, unhealthy diet and tobacco products. We should also remember that the most important factor in the fight against cancer is early diagnosis” said Tatar.

He also wished all those who are battling cancer a speedy recovery and added that “relevant institutions will continue to stand by TRNC citizens with all their means in early diagnosis and at every stage of the fight against cancer.”
