President Tatar: Paşa fearlessly stood at the forefront of TC struggle

President Ersin Tatar has expressed his deep sorrow over the death of former TMT (Turkish Resistance Organization) Commander Halil Paşa.

In a message issued on Monday, Tatar said that Paşa had fearlessly stood at the forefront of the struggle for freedom and independence of the Turkish Cypriot people.

He emphasized that Halil Paşa would forever live in the hearts of the people.

In a message of condolence issued for former TMT commander Halil Paşa who passed away, President Tatar acknowledged Halil Paşa’s courageous role at the forefront of the Turkish Cypriot people’s fight for freedom and independence, highlighting the significant sacrifices he made.

Tatar expressed his profound and great sadness at the news of Halil Paşa’s passing.

In his message, President Tatar stated, “Our heroic compatriot Halil Paşa, while serving in crucial roles within the Turkish Resistance Organization and army of freedom fighters, played a significant part in leading our people to the morning of July 20, 1974.”

He added that Paşa had also taken a leading role in the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and served in the Founding Assembly of the republic.

“Having held the position of President of the Cyprus Turkish Fighters Association for many years, Paşa will live on forever in the struggle and hearts of our people. My condolences go out to his family and comrades in arms,” Tatar said.
