President Ersin Tatar received the President of the Azerbaijan Institute of Democracy and Human Rights Dr. Ahmet Şairoğlu on Monday.

Speaking during the visit, Tatar stressed that the mentality of the Greek Cypriot side had not changed, stating that they aim to sever ties between the Turkish Cypriots and Türkiye as well as transform Cyprus into a Greek island.

Pointing out that the formula for a hopeful future lied in two separate states, the president reiterated his readiness to cooperate with South Cyprus on a wide range of issues..

Stressing the importance of maintaining the Turkish-Greek balance on the island, he stated that the status and importance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus had grown following regional and global developments.

Expressing his admiration for the efforts put forth by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Tatar expressed his hope for further enhancement of relations with Azerbaijan in various fields, with the support of Türkiye, and an increase in political contacts in the future.

The President of the Azerbaijan Institute of Democracy and Human Rights Dr. Ahmet Şairoğlu, presented President Ersin Tatar with the “Service Award to the Turkic World.”

Şairoğlu noted that he was closely following the efforts and contributions made by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in recent years to establish its place as an independent state in the international community.
