Turkish Cypriot athlete Buse Savaşkan, who competed on behalf of Türkiye in the women’s high jump final of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, was received by President Ersin Tatar on Wednesday.

Speaking during the visit, President Tatar stated that Buse Savaşkan made the Turkish Cypriot people proud at the Olympics.

Tatar stated that the success achieved by Savaşkan is a source of inspiration for young people.

He also drew attention to the pride the Turkish Cypriot felt when Savaşkan was competing.

Referring to the event organised in the Presidential gardens to watch Buse Savaşkan’s final competition, President Tatar pointed out that it was a great success for Buse Savaşkan to take part in the Turkish National Team and represent the Turkish Cypriot community in the Olympics despite the embargoes.

Stating that he watched her struggle in the qualifiers with great pride, President Tatar congratulated Buse Savaşkan, her coach, family and supporters on behalf of himself and the Turkish Cypriot people and wished her continued success.

Buse Savaşkan for her part thanked the President for his support and stated that she was very proud that she was able to represent the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus there and to pass on these achievements to the new generations.
