President Ersin Tatar returned to the Republic last night after attending Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s oath-swearing ceremony in Ankara.

Speaking at a press conference at Ercan Airport, Tatar said that the Turkish President had emphasized the importance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) during his inauguration speech.

Tatar told reporters that the only settlement that could be reached in Cyprus was a two-state solution based on sovereign equality.

“I found the opportunity to inform my counterparts on the latest developments concerning the Cyprus Problem during my visit to Ankara,” the president said.

Thanking the Turkish president for highlighting the TRNC during his inauguration speech, President Tatar said that the Turkish Republic had carried out a democratic election in a mature atmosphere, revealing once again Türkiye’s position as a powerful and stable state.

He added that he had also taken part in a programme on Kanal 7 during which he had found the opportunity to raise the Turkish Cypriot side’s vision concerning the Cyprus issue.
