On Wednesday, President Ersin Tatar said there was no change in Türkiye’s policy on the Cyprus issues.

Evaluating his contacts abroad to the TAK news agency President Ersin Tatar stated that important messages were given in the speeches made at the recently held panel on the 50th anniversary of the Turkish Peace Operation.

He emphasized that the relations between Türkiye and Greece can provide developments for the benefit of both countries, but that the Cyprus issue could not be linked with this nor was there a change in Türkiye’s policy on Cyprus.

Drawing attention to Turkish Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler’s statement that “there is no solution other than a two-state solution for a permanent and just solution on the island”, Tatar noted that the full support given to the new policy is precious for the Turkish Cypriot people and that Türkiye’s guarantees were of vital importance.

Reminding of Güler’s call for the international community to treat the two sides equally in a solution-oriented manner on the island, President Tatar underlined that they will continue their efforts to strengthen the new and national politics.

Tatar said he would be briefing parliament on the latest developments on Monday.
