President Ersin Tatar has issued a message commemorating the anniversaries of the July 15 coup attempt in Türkiye and the 1974 Greek Junta’s coup in Cyprus.
In his statement, Tatar affirmed, “The Republic of Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will endure forever with the determination and resolve of our nations.”
President Ersin Tatar in his message issued on the 8th anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt in Türkiye and the 50th anniversary of the 1974 Greek Junta’s coup in Cyprus emphasized the significance of these events.
He noted that the Turkish nation demonstrated its commitment to democracy and national will on the night of July 15, 2016.
“On that night, the traitors who attempted to disrupt the unity and solidarity of the Republic of Türkiye were thwarted by the strong will of the Turkish people and the sacrifices of our heroic security forces. The Turkish nation, standing tall against tanks and bullets, defended democracy and freedom, creating a historic epic.”
President Tatar paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the indivisible unity and solidarity of the Republic, ensuring the guarantee of democracy and independence. He expressed gratitude and reverence for the martyrs and conveyed his appreciation to the veterans.
President Tatar also highlighted that July 15 is a significant date for the Turkish Cypriot people, marking the 50th anniversary of the 1974 Greek coup in Cyprus.
He recalled that the intervention by the Republic of Türkiye on July 20, 1974, aimed to bring peace to the island, resulting in the independence and freedom of the Turkish Cypriot people. “The Turkish Cypriot people are independent and free and will continue to sustain their existence with their own state. All these strengthen us. Let us not forget that the Republic of Türkiye and the TRNC will endure forever with the determination and resolve of our nations. On the anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt, we once again emphasize our commitment to democracy and national will, and I extend my greetings and love to every member of the Turkish nation, who we always feel by our side.”
