President Ersin Tatar visited the Geçitkale Cumhuriyet High School and met with students on Tuesday.

Speaking with the students President Ersin Tatar said that they are proud to be able to live with honour in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), a Turkish state in the Eastern Mediterranean, and explained the importance of love for the homeland, nation and flag to young people.

Explaining that more than 30 thousand people have lost their lives in Gaza and no one has been able to prevent it and that war is continuing in Ukraine, President Tatar reminded that massacres were committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina a few years ago as well.

Stating that Cyprus had also suffered a lot in the past, President Tatar said that the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo wanted to connect Cyprus to Greece, but that this was prevented as a result of the struggles waged by the Turkish Cypriots.

“Peace, tranquillity and trust cannot be bought with money,” said Tatar, noting that these values are the blessings of the national struggle.

Explaining that young people will be the rulers of the state in the future, President Tatar said, “You should know the value of the independent, free and honourable life gained after the struggle. Act with love for your homeland and nation, friendship and brotherhood. There may be daily troubles, but these troubles can happen anywhere in the world. The state is sacred and should be glorified.”

President Tatar also touched upon the Cyprus issue and pointed out that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus should be part of the agreement.

Pointing out that the Greek Cypriot side acts as the owner of the whole Cyprus and that the Turkish Cypriots are their citizens, President Tatar said, “Our existence will continue with our state. We will not compromise our state. Türkiye fully supports our national policy. We will not give up our sovereignty, Türkiye’s guarantorship and the deterrent power of the Turkish military.”

Stating that the TRNC has started to take its place in the Organization of Turkic States, President Tatar noted that the hearts of thousands of Turkish Cypriots living in Anatolia, England, Australia and Canada, as well as those living in Cyprus, beat here.

“Wherever we are in the world, Turkish Cypriots are one, one heart,” said President Tatar, emphasizing that he explained on every platform that national values and spirituality, love for our homeland, land, and existence can exist with the TRNC.
