President Ersin Tatar is in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan and will attend the 16th Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) Summit, which he will attend at the invitation of the ECO.

Prior to his departure from Ercan Airport the President made a statement to the press that he wanted to make the Turkish Cypriots voice heard at every platform.

Pointing to the importance of the Economic Cooperation Organization, which represents a population of over 500 million, President Tatar stated that they will continue to work to explain the just cause of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and its new politics.

Explaining that there will not be an agreement on a federal basis in Cyprus, Tatar said that politics have changed and that there can now be an agreement on the basis of two states in Cyprus.

“The important thing is to maintain the determination on this issue,” Tatar said, noting that at the ECO summit, they will explain to their interlocutors that there can be a solution based on the cooperation of two states in Cyprus.

He stated that the Cyprus problem can be solved permanently with an agreement based on the cooperation of the two states in all areas as well as water and energy fields, and that two sovereign states can cooperate on the sharing of the riches around the island, mines and migrants.

President Tatar said that he conveyed these proposals again through the UN during his meeting with the UN Secretary General.
