President Ersin Tatar received various delegations as part of his contacts in London over the course of last week.

Tatar had separately received the President and members of the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations as well as the delegation from the International Democrats Union UK Youth Wing.

The president who completed his contacts in the UK, returned to the island last night.

President Ersin Tatar received the President and members of the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations as part of his London contacts.

According to a written statement from the Office of the President, during the reception held at the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) London Representative Office, the President expressed his gratitude to the council executives for their successful organisation of the Cyprus Turkish Cultural Festival as well as to everyone who showed interest in the festival.

Expressing his satisfaction with the continuation of events that bring together members of the Turkish Cypriot community based in the UK, Tatar expressed his hope for the continuation of such activities.

He also stressed the importance of preserving and passing on culture and traditions through events, ensuring their continuation and transmission to future generations.

Stressing that Turkish Cypriots living in the UK had always yearned for Cyprus, and as someone who has lived in this country for years, he understands the significance of this longing, Tatar noted that Turkish Cypriots living in the UK continuously strive to strengthen their economic and cultural ties with their homeland on every occasion, and they have significant investments in Cyprus.

Stating that Turkish Cypriots in the UK had made significant contributions to the development of the TRNC, the President expressed his belief that these contributions will continue to grow in the period ahead.

Also touching upon the Cyprus issue, Tatar reiterated that the official negotiations in Cyprus could only begin with the recognition of the Turkish Cypriots’ sovereign equality and equal international status.

He also stressed the necessity for the UK as a guarantor country, to listen to the views of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Tatar added that talks for a federal settlement that had been repeatedly proven to be unsuccessful and exhausted was no longer valid for the Turkish Cypriot side.

Meanwhile, President Ersin Tatar also met with the International Democrats Union UK Youth Wing, led by Enes Şahin.

Speaking during the meeting, Tatar expressed that he was deeply moved by the patriotism displayed by the youth at the 6th Cyprus Turkish Cultural Festival organized by the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations in the UK.

Expressing his happiness in seeing the support given by Turkish Cypriots living abroad to the vision of a solution based on two separate equal sovereign states in Cyprus, President Tatar also extended his best wishes for success to the International Democrats Union UK Youth Wing in their endeavours.
