Presidential Election in Türkiye
Date Added: 25 May 2023

There are three days left until the second round of the Presidential Election in Türkiye.

Türkiye will go to the polls again on May 28 to elect the President, as the candidates did not receive an absolute majority in the first round of the Presidential Election held on 14 May.

The election calendar prepared by the Turkish Supreme Election Council (YSK) for the second ballot is working.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu are competing for the second round of the Presidential Election to be held on 28 May.

The candidate who receives the majority of valid votes in this round will be elected President.

After the first round, 47 thousand 523 young people who turned 18 and were eligible to become voters were added to the total of more than 64 million registered voters in Türkiye and abroad.

The turnout rate and the votes cast in the second round of the elections broke all-time records.

Voting procedures in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and representations abroad ended yesterday.

Voters in the TRNC were able to vote in Lefkoşa and Gazimağusa until 10pm on Wednesday.
