Türkiye is preparing to go to the polls on May 14 to determine its next president and MPs.

While the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Nationalist People’s Party (MHP) nominated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Republican Peoples Party (CHP) and Good Party (İyi Party) have nominated Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu as their candidates.

The Supreme Election Board has announced that it has accepted the candidacy of the two names.

The process of collecting 100,000 signatures for the presidential candidates to be nominated by voters continues.

The leader of the Homeland Party Muharrem İnce and Ata Alliance candidate Sinan Oğan have both obtained 100.000 signatures, thus, the number of candidates to compete in the presidential election has gone up to four.

The temporary list of candidates for the presidential election will be shared today and then the appeal process will begin.

Appeals will be finalized on March 30.

The final list of presidential candidates will be published in the Official Gazette on March 31.

On April 1, a lottery will be drawn at the Supreme Election Council (YSK) to determine the candidates’ places on the combined ballot paper.
