Primary and secondary students both at public and private schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education returned to their classrooms this morning (Monday the 20th of February) marking the beginning of the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year.

The second term of the 2022-2023 Academic Year, which was planned to start on Thursday the 16th of February after the 15-day holiday and was postponed with a decision announced by the Council of Ministers due to the earthquake disaster in Türkiye began this morning. (Monday 20, February).

The first semester of the school year ended with the distribution of report cards at all schools on January 31st.

The second semester at primary schools will be completed on the 16th of June and at secondary schools on the 8th of June, kick starting a 3-month summer vacation.

In the TRNC, approximately 25 thousand students are receiving education at 127 schools affiliated to the Primary Education Department.

Approximately 23 thousand students are receiving education at 49 schools affiliated to the General Secondary Education Department, 4 thousand students at 12 schools affiliated to the Vocational Technical Education Department, and 400 students are receiving education at the Taner Akcan Apprenticeship and Adult Education Centre.
