March 18-24 is Elderly Week and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel issued a message to mark the occasion.

In his message the Premier stated that the government considers raising the living standards of elderly people and ensuring that they can easily access the services they need as one of their priorities.

He stated that it is their greatest desire that people who strive to be useful to society throughout their lives spend their lives in a comfortable and peaceful environment in their old age.

“As a primary requirement of the social state understanding, love and respect for our elderly and care services with modern norms continue to be our basic duty. We are aware that we need to ensure that elderly individuals integrate with society, become more active and remain connected to life” said Üstel.

Reminded that helping to solve the problems of the elderly, ensuring that they take their rightful place in society, making life easier for the elderly and ensuring that they live without needing anyone is not only the responsibility of the state alone, but also the responsibility and priority duties of everyone as a society, Üstel said that for this reason, they always need the support of non-governmental organizations and responsible citizens.
