The âThis Country is Ours Platformâ on Monday handed a letter to the UN secretary-generalâs personal envoy Maria Angela Holguin expressing the platformâs views and a request to meet with the UN diplomat.
Members of the platform made up of several MPs, party and trade union officials as well as NGOs gathered at the Ledra Palace crossing point on Monday morning to greet the UN Secretary-Generalâs personal envoy as she crossed over to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to meet with President Ersin Tatar.
Holguin who stopped to greet the members was handed a letter by Selma Eylem representing the platform expressing support to her efforts to find common ground to restart talks, the platformâs views on how the process should be handled as well as request to meet with the UN diplomat.
The letter stated that the majority on both sides of the divide desired a federal settlement based on UN parameters and that talks should resume from where they left off at Crans Montana as soon as possible.
