One of the holiest nights in Islam, known as Qadr Night is being observed on Monday night.
The President of TRNC Religious Officials Union Gökhan İnik issued a statement wishing the entire Muslim world a holy night.
The Qadr Night variously rendered in English as the Night of Decree, Night of Power, Night of Value or Night of Measures, is, in Islamic belief, the night when the Quran was first sent down from Heaven to the world and also the night when the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the Islamic prophet Muhammad.
The President of the TRNC Religious Officials Union Gökhan İnik noted that the Night of Power was the night when the Holy Quran was handed down to humanity, bringing it out from the darkness to the light.
Pointing out that the night connecting Monday, April 17, to Tuesday, was the blessed Qadr Night, İnik said, “The Qadr Night is the night of judgment, which glorifies the honour of humanity as the highest of beings, and where good and evil are separated.”
In a written statement, İnik stated that they were experiencing the enthusiasm and excitement of comprehending the Qadr Night as they were preparing to bid farewell to Ramadan, the sultan of eleven months, which is the month of mercy and forgiveness.
President Ersin Tatar also issued a message to mark the night.
In his message, Tatar stated that blessings and mercy reached their peak in the Night of Power and expressed the hope that the night will bring peace, tranquillity and happiness to all humanity.
