The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre reacted to the “Bloody Cyprus Occupation by Turks” banner opened during the Panathinaikos-Maccabi Tel Aviv friendly match played in South Cyprus.

He stated that they condemned the banner and congratulated Ergin Ataman, the Turkish coach of the Greek team Panathinaikos, for his reaction.

In his statement, Töre said that the banner is not suitable to sports nor has any ethical value and can never be accepted.

He stated that they have seen that nothing has changed in the past 70 years and that the same mentality still continues today.

Asking those who are looking for occupation to look at the Republic of Cyprus and what Israel has done, Töre invited the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo to acknowledge the facts.
