The Chairman of Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States and the Justice and Development Party Group Deputy Chairman Binali Yıldırım made statements on the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus during a workshop he attended.

In his speech, Yıldırım said that no matter how much attention is shown to Turkic states and its geography, this would not be enough because of its historic and cultural richness and depth.

Stating that the Turkic World 2040 Vision Document should be accepted as a road map, he pointed out to the importance of the decision of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to join as an “observer member.”

Stressing that this decision was of historical importance, Yıldırım said “unfortunately, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has been subjected to isolation and embargoes for years. This membership is actually a message to the world for the TRNC to regain its lost years.”

Pointing out that efforts towards a solution in the TRNC were rendered ineffective by some elements, he stated that the message given by the Organization of Turkic States to the world by admitting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as an observer member said, “From now on, the Turkic world will not give consent for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to face any more embargoes and injustices.”

“It is a clear message and we see this as an important decision taken at this summit,” Yıldırım stressed.

Referring to the geopolitical importance of the Turkic states, Binali Yıldırım noted that they ensured energy security not only for the region but also for the rest of the world.
