Repair works completed at Geçitköy pump station; water supply restored

The technical malfunction at the Geçitköy Pump Station has been successfully repaired, and the water supply to the system has resumed, it was announced on Thursday.

The Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hüseyin Çavuş, announced that water began flowing into the network as of 1:40 am on Thursday.

Large parts of the country suffered water shortages this week following the malfunction which occurred at the discharge line of the Geçitköy booster station, which transmits water from the Geçitköy Dam to the Çamlıbel Treatment Facility.

Following the completion of the repair work, Minister Çavuş confirmed the restoration of the water supply during a statement to BRT.

Minister Çavuş reported that water distribution across the country had begun and noted that by 8:00 am the water reservoirs in Lefkoşa had reached 40% capacity.
