Within the framework of the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Republic of Türkiye, the Eastern Mediterranean University’s Atatürk Research and Application Centre and the Eastern Mediterranean University’s Atatürkist Ideology Club organized the “Republic is 100 years old” panel.
Speaking at the opening of the panel, the vice chairman of the EMU Atatürk Research and Application Centre Assistant Professor Dr. Turgay Bülent Goktürk said that he was honoured to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye.
EMU Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer for his part expressed the hope that the nation may not have to write another national anthem again.
Acting President and Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre who also delivered an opening address reminded that Atatürk entrusted the Republic of Türkiye to the Turkish youth.
Stating that the duty of the Turkish youth is to protect the republic, Töre reminded that the 40th anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will be celebrated on November 15.
After the opening speeches were completed the panel discussions continued with presentations by Prof Dr. İlber Ortaylı and retired Turkish Chief of Staff İlker Başbuğ were speakers at the panel discussions.
