A swearing-in ceremony was held on Thursday for 46th term reserve officers and sergeants.
President Ersin Tatar, Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre and Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu attended the ceremony held at the Gülseren Barracks in Gazimağusa.
Addressing the ceremony, President Ersin Tatar said those who were swearing an oath today were the grandchildren of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defence of their homeland and nation.
He underlined that the military discipline and training the military conscripts have received will serve as an important experience in the lives of those who will take certain positions in the country in the future.
Tatar thanked the commanders and other military personnel and especially their families, who contributed to the upbringing of the soldiers and wished them success.
Referring to the Cyprus issue, Tatar said that if there is to be an agreement in Cyprus the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will be a part of that agreement.
