The restoration works of the Selimiye Mosque have come to an end.

President Ersin Tatar received the team carrying out the restoration works at the Selimiye Mosque in cooperation with the Cyprus Vakıflar Administration and the General Directorate of Vakıflar of the Republic of Türkiye.

Speaking during the visit President Tatar stated that Selimiye Mosque, which is an important and historical mosque of Cyprus, was converted into a mosque after the Ottoman conquest of Cyprus and has been an important place of worship for centuries.

He said that the restoration works have reached the final stage and the mosque will be ready for worship during Ramadan.

President Tatar, who expressed the hope to perform the Eid prayer there upon the completion of the works in the mosque during Ramadan, added that the Selimiye mosque contains great memories and has added great strength to the TRNC’S spirituality.
