The Cultural Heritage Technical Committee Continues is continuing with its efforts to restore cultural heritage around the island.

The Bi-Communal Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage has completed the conservation work on the historic mosque in the village of Alaminyo, located in the Larnaca region in South Cyprus.

Speaking about the committee’s efforts, Co-Chair of the Bi-Communal Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage Ali Tuncay, stated that the structural integrity of the mosque was preserved through comprehensive interventions that maintained its architectural and historical significance.

Tuncay noted that site cleaning was carried out, vegetation was removed, and repairs were made to the wall plaster, roof, wooden doors, and windows.

Providing further details on the committee’s ongoing projects, Tuncay announced that next week, a visit will be organized to the Aya Paraskevi Church in the lower Maraş region of Gazimağusa, where restoration work has also been completed.

He emphasized that conservation efforts on mosques in South Cyprus will continue.

While restoration work at the Evdim Mosque is ongoing, the restoration of the Tera Village Mosque in Paphos has been completed.

Tuncay stated that a visit and event will be held in April to mark the completion of work at the Tera Mosque.

He added that these restoration efforts are carried out with financial support from the European Union and technical assistance from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
