Date Added: 16 January 2025

The construction of the Çayönü-Güvercinlik road has officially begun, with the Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Erhan Arıklı, visiting the site to review the progress.

Speaking during his inspection, Minister Arıklı stated that the road construction is expected to be completed by April.

The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Minister Arıklı highlighted that the 17.5-kilometer-long road is part of a broader project under the highways construction agreement signed with Türkiye.

This initiative aims to upgrade 320 kilometers of village roads across the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

He noted that nearly half of the roads targeted for renewal under the project have already been completed.

Following the completion of the Çayönü-Güvercinlik road, work will shift to the Karpaz Monastery route.

The project involves widening certain sections of the 17.5-kilometer road and addressing water retention issues by implementing necessary infrastructure improvements.

Beyarmudu Mayor Bülent Bebek expressed satisfaction with the commencement of the construction, while Çayönü Mukhtar Ferdi Alasyalı thanked Minister Arıklı, stating that the community had been waiting for this development for years.
