Road works on the Dipkarpaz-Manastir road has begun

Within the framework of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Highways Master Plan 2021-2022 Implementation Protocol, road works on the Dipkarpaz-Manastir road has begun.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu and Public Works and Transportation Minister Erhan Arıklı visited the region on Monday and carried out inspections.

The ministers were accompanied by Erenköy Karpaz Mayor Hamit Bakırcı and ministry officials.

Speaking during the visit the Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı said that they have been working on the Dipkarpaz monastery road project for some time and have now finally begun implementing the project.

Stating that they have identified 12 places for the supply of materials to be used in the construction of the road, Arıklı announced that the work on the road will start with the licensing of 3 of the determined settlements.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu for his part stated that the road is very important in terms of tourism and that with the completion of the road, the number of tourists visiting the region will increase.

Ataoğlu said that the 25-kilometer road will be 10 meters wide with two-meter walking and bicycle paths.

He noted that the Monastery square project, which will be realized together with the Municipality, will bring a different vitality to the region.

Stating that the citizens in the region informed them that they had some problems with free donkeys, Minister Ataoğlu added that they would eliminate this problem within the framework of the protocol they carried out with the Municipality and Tashkent Nature Park.
