Sailing and Maritime Festival

The North Cyprus Sailing and Maritime Festival started today in Girne.

The festival, which is being held under the organization of the Girne Marina and Mediterranean Sailing Association, will continue until Sunday, June 30.

The North Cyprus Sailing and Maritime Festival is being held in Girne for the second time this year under the organization of Girne Marina and Mediterranean Sailing Association.

During the festival, where competitions will be held in 4 categories consisting of ILCA-4, Optimist North Cyprus Turkcell Monohull Sailing Race and Halil Falyalı Fishing Tournament, there will also be an Electronic Fault Diagnosis Repair Workshop for sea enthusiasts.

The Girne Marina, which will host the organization throughout the festival, will come together with important companies in the maritime sector, maritime and sea sports enthusiasts.

The Girne Marina General Manager Karahan Şahin expressed his pleasure at being able to organize the second edition of the festival.

Şahin noted that they aim to make the festival, which they started in order to bring together those who love sailing and sea sports, a yearly event.

Stating that there were participants from Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Şahin said that their goal is to turn this festival into an event with international participation that will increase the interaction of the maritime community in the coming years.

He stated that the award ceremony of the festival will take place on the evening of June 30th at the Girne Marina.

Gökhan Erdoğan, President and Instructor of the Mediterranean Sailing Association, noted that within the scope of the festival, races will take place in 4 different categories and those who wish to compete can do so by applying for the competition online on the club’s page.
