The 2023-2024 academic year at all public schools affiliated with the Primary Education Department of the Ministry of National Education began this morning (Monday).

Schools affiliated to the General Secondary Education Department and the Directorate of Vocational Technical Education Department will begin the new academic year on Tuesday.

The Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu made a statement to the TAK news agency regarding the start of the new academic year.

He said that the 2023-2024 school year will start with approximately 25,000 students who will study in 126 public and private schools affiliated to the Primary Education Department.

Çavuşoğlu stated that all necessary measures have been taken at schools that pose a risk in terms of earthquakes and temporary prefabricated classrooms have been installed until safer classrooms and school buildings are constructed for the students.

The education minister also noted that they had completed the maintenance and repairs of 50 schools that were earthquake resistant in time for the new semester.
