Scientific Symposium at EMU

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) hosted the scientific symposium on “The Geopolitical Importance of the Turkic World.”

The symposium, organized under the leadership of the Karabakh is Azerbaijan National Platform, focused on the significance of Turkic states, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and the shaping of Turkish-Azerbaijani relations.

The Eastern Mediterranean University hosted the Educational and Scientific Symposium titled “The Geopolitical Importance of the Turkic World and the Current Status of Turkic States”.

Organized under the leadership of the Karabakh is Azerbaijan National Platform and with contributions from the Cyprus Azerbaijan Diaspora Center, the symposium’s opening speeches emphasized the geopolitical significance of the Turkic world.

The first speech was delivered by Raul Diniyev, President of the Cyprus Azerbaijan Diaspora Center.

Diniyev expressed his hope for dark clouds to disperse from over Turkic states and emphasized that this century belongs to Turkic identity.

Dr. Elvin Abdurrahman, the Türkiye General Coordinator of the “Karabakh is Azerbaijan” National Platform, emphasized that today, the greatest importance lies with the Turkic states.

Abdurrahman also stated that their wish is for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to be recognized by the Turkic states.

Üzeyir Mammadov, a Member of Parliament from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, spoke about Azerbaijan’s steadfast commitment to resolving its issues through peaceful means and stressed that this determination should not be abandoned.

Mammadov also highlighted that the region’s energy resources and related projects have further increased Azerbaijan’s strategic significance.

Following the opening speeches, Retired Brigadier General Prof. Dr. Esat Arslan and Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University faculty member Dr. Cumhur Eken analyzed the topic “The Geopolitical Importance of the Turkic World and the Current Status of Turkic States.”

They provided insights on the importance of Turkic states, the significance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and the shaping of Turkish-Azerbaijani relations.
