A reception was held at the Security Forces Command headquarters in Boğaz to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the Security Forces Command, the 66th anniversary of the Turkish Resistance Organization and the 453rd anniversary of the conquest of Cyprus.
In his speech at the reception, Security Forces Commander Major General Osman Aytaç said that the Security Forces Command will continue to protect the existence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the integrity of the state with all its personnel.
Stating that the peace and security environment that emerged with the arrival of the Ottoman Empire on the island 453 years ago ended with the Ottoman departure in 1878 and that the Turkish Cypriots experienced dark days until 1974, Major General Aytaç noted that the Turkish Cypriots, who were tried to be destroyed by the Greek Cypriots during this period, struggled to protect their existence.
On August 1, 1958, with the establishment of the Turkish Resistance Organization, Major General Osman Aytaç stated that the resistance was organized and with the Peace Operation carried out by Türkiye on July 20, 1974, peace, tranquillity and stability that had been longed for many years on the island was re-established.
Reminding that the TMT had handed over its duty to the Security Forces Command on August 1, 1976, Major General Aytaç emphasized that the Security Forces Command is determined to ensure that everyone lives in security and peace.
“The Security Forces Command will continue to protect the existence of the TRNC, the integrity of the state and the sacred homeland with all its personnel, and will fly our glorious flags in the skies forever” said Aytaç.
