The recent decision by the United States to approve arms sales to the Greek Cypriot Administration has drawn close attention in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Türkiye.

In light of these developments, a high-level security meeting was convened at the TRNC Presidency.

According to a statement from the Office of the President, President Ersin Tatar met with Commander of the Turkish Peace Forces in Cyprus, Major General Sebahattin Kılınç, and Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces, Major General İlker Görgülü.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the security of both the TRNC and the island of Cyprus, addressing the potential implications of the U.S. arms sales.
