Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa, Yasin Ekrem Serim visited the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly, Ziya Öztürkler, on Thursday.
The Deputy Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly, Fazilet Özdenefe, and members of the Bureau of the Parliament, Hasan Küçük, Devrim Barçın, Fırtına Karanfil – along with the General Secretary of the Assembly, Seral Fırat, and the Head of the Assembly’s Private Office, İrem Uygun, were also present.
In his speech during the visit, Ambassador Yasin Ekrem Serim thanked Speaker Öztürkler for the meeting during a busy period with the budget marathon and stated that he was visiting to wish the Speaker and members of the Bureau of the Parliament success on their new post.
Conveying his wishes and hopes for the enactment of the laws needed by the Turkish Cypriot people in the new term, Serim expressed Türkiye’s readiness to provide all necessary support.
The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly, Ziya Öztürkler, for his part noted that they had completed the elections for the Speaker, Vice Speaker, and Bureau of the Parliament and said they were pleased to have Ambassador Serim among them.
Öztürkler also added that budget discussions started on Monday in the committee and would be presented to the general assembly within seven days, under a tight schedule.
Highlighting the importance of the Republic of Türkiye, he stated that for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to progress further, legislation and oversight were crucial.
Öztürkler also expressed gratitude for the support received.
