Work in the capital Lefkoşa to renew the sewerage main carrier pipeline is continuing and, in this context, the first stage renovation works on Mehmet Akif Street, Bedrettin Demirel Street and Gültekin Şengör Street connecting them, which are among the busiest streets of the capital, will start on July 22.

The works, which will take place in three phases, are planned to be completed by September 15.

An informative meeting will be held at Kumsal Park at 8pm today to inform the people of the region about the work to take place.

The first stage of the renovation works of the sewerage main carrier pipeline on Mehmet Akif Street, Bedrettin Demirel Street and Gültekin Şengör Street, known as Dereboyu in the capital Lefkoşa, will start on July 22.

According to the statement made by Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality, the main carrier pipelines, which were built in 1986 have been seriously damaged over the years, causing blockages and collapses, wastewater leakage and odour.

Renewed in 2022, the remaining part of the sewage main will be completely renewed in three phases and will be completed by September 15.

In a statement made by the municipality, it was stated that the cost of the project is 36 million TL and the project will be realized with the financing of the European Union.

Within the scope of the first stage, the route starting from Kumsal Park until the junction of Gültekin Şengör Street with Mehmet Akif Street will be closed to traffic.

In the statement, which provided information on how the traffic flow will be provided in this process, citizens who want to use Dereboyu were warned to pay attention to the warnings and signs and to follow the directions of the municipality staff.

In order for the Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality administration to provide detailed information about the works to be carried out in the region, an informative meeting will be held today at 8pm at the Kumsal Park for the people and tradesmen of the region.
