The first screenings of the short promotional films “Bayram in Cyprus” and “Green Island Cyprus,” prepared by Türkiye İş Bank in 1972, were held yesterday, 50 years later.
The screening of films depicting the recent history and struggle for existence of the Turkish Cypriot people took place at the Lefkoşa Atatürk Culture Centre and was attended by President Ersin Tatar, Speaker of the Parliament Zorlu Töre, and other officials.
During the event, a promotional film about the preparation for the screening of the short films was shown first.
Following the speeches, the screenings of promotional films took place.
In his post-screening speech, President Ersin Tatar mentioned that history and epic tales were being written in Cyprus, making these films valuable.
Tatar noted that while there was always hope for the future during the ongoing struggle in the country, the fight continues even today.
